On my way back
« on: March 05, 2018, 02:06:AM »
Hi fellas, long time no see. Patch 4.0 brought the counter steer option which makes driving with a pad finally reasonably doable. But I still have to learn a lot, especially the open wheel cars are extremely twitchy so I'm taking things slow and I'll go through career mode to get a better grip on the fysics. So it might still take a little while until I'm ready to make my comeback.

By the way, was there some glitch that made you able to set crazy laptimes? Because I have seen crazy times on almost every track. For example, an easy track, I drove 1.40 which could have been a few seconds faster I'm sure, but I saw Matti set a 1.15 and the record was 0.50 or so which are simply impossible with that car/track combi.

Itís good to hear from you Dennis.  It will take a little while to get back up to speed.  I still have not seen someone else driving with a controller as smooth and effortlessly you made it look.  I even learned some just by watching your videos even though I have a wheel.  How have you been?  Of the glitch allowing fast times, what track are you referring to?

I don't remember which track but most tracks have ridiculous records, I then see the fastest time of someone fast on my friends list who is just a bit faster than me and then the WR is 20 seconds faster on a 1.30 course which is impossible there and I've seen it more extreme with the example with Matti I showed. I believe it was a shorter UK track in a Gianetta Jr. and I was smashing the AI, so no way someone was more than, let's take an extreme, 10 seconds faster than me, but he was something like 20 faster and the WR was another 20 faster, so 40 faster than me. Either the laps were recorded wrongly or there was an exploit earlier in the game.

By the way, in PCars 1 I was always struggling to keep my tire wear and temps down,  now I'm struggling to keep them warm enough :s

On things not racing related: still a team of specialists trying to 'fix' my back and still no luck: they tried to set a nerve block 2-3 weeks ago, but that hasn't had the effect we wanted: superficially my left leg feels even more numb now (I can push my nails in my skin and don't feel it), but the pain is deeper and still there. So on to the next treatment.
How are things with you (and the others of course)?

How do?  So not quite ready to race yet then? I've been playing against people on controller and they're easily as fast. In fact in touring cars at Zolder there was someone who was consistently about 0.3s faster and they were on controller. Using the D-Pad as well, not the sticks!

I'm not aware of insane WR lap times anywhere. I can either usually set them or lap within a second or so. What car and track combo was it? ...unless of course you mean you are looking a TT by class? Someone can set a time in a GT5 car but GT1 cars are also the same class so the record times you see on the loading screen can easily be 30 or 40 seconds apart.

There's always a space on our grids for you fella.

I have no info on these times bit i have noticed some crazy figures myself. Like Matt says is it like PC1 where all cars within a class can be used to set a laptime so WR for a FC race was set using FX or something?

Optimists live longer than pessimists.
Turns out they're both right.

It doesn't say vehicle class but just Best in vehicle, but I'm guessing it's still class like in PC1. I don't remember exactly which car/track combo it was, as I said I believe it was a Gianetta Jr. (or perhaps the GT5) on a short layout of a british track.
But also right now, I'm at Zolder in a GT4, tarbz has the best time from my friendslist around the 1.40. I checked: http://pcars.13ms.de/#/times/3934256239?vehicle=2091910841 and you can see that his time is good and realistic, the world record according to the loading screen however is over 20 seconds faster.

WR TT times can be depressing and are set in ideal conditions probably with a destructive 1 lap setup. Also the Rookie is about 2 seconds slower on PS4 after patch 4.1. I know this because I practiced for a race and Laguna Seca pre patch 4 and I could get into the 1:33s, post patch 4 it was 1:35s because the car is much more slidey, but times on these databases clearly haven't been reset since the various patches, although I know SMS are resetting TT times when a car is rebalanced. I know the Touring cars are faster and much easier to drive on PC than PS4 by about 2s a lap as well.

The PC times are only a rough guide.
