Half season to bridge the gap to pCars2
« on: July 28, 2017, 04:45:PM »
So, since there are 6 weeks between the end of this season and the release of pCars2 we thought it might be fun to do a half season with different open-wheel cars and nice tracks that suit those cars. Here's what we came up with.

17-Aug | Spa-Francorchamps | Formula A | 23 laps

24-Aug | Monza | Formula B | 27 laps

31-Aug | Imola | Formula C | 25 laps

7-Sep | Barcelona GP | Formula Renault 3.5 | 28 laps

14-Sep | Brands Hatch Indy | Formula Rookie | 50 laps

21-Sep | Road America | Indy Car | 23 laps

All races will be held in clear weather, with tire wear set at x2 (which will probably result in about half the races being a 1 stop race and adding a little bit of strategy) and with performance impacting damage as usual to discourage drivers from doing crazy lunges or other dangerous driving.
The number of laps have been set to make the races last about 40 minutes, so about the same as we have now.
The best 5 results will count towards the championship, so your worst result will be scrapped. Everything else will be the same as now (start times, length of the sessions etc).
It's just designed as a fun little series to keep us occupied until pCars2 will be launched so we didn't really feel like doing a lot of testing etc so we decided to keep things as simple as possible.

What do you guys think of this?

Great! I am in!  :great:

Maybe we should call it “Formula Master Championship" when we promote it.

I'm really looking forward to this. I agree it's a Formula Masters series!

I'd say leave this up for discussion for a few more days and then open the sign-up after the race on Thursday or Friday. 2 weeks open sign-up should be enough. Perhaps a good idea to give current members a week of sign-up privilege and after that we'll advertise on the pCars forum. We have nearly 30 members in the psn-lobby, hopefully we can have the entire field made up out of these drivers that we already know.

I'll start thinking about a nice promo poster :)

I already have done a calendar table and a championship table.   Looking at the season, I can tell it is going to be quite a job keeping track of all the car selections as they come in and are recorded.  Let me know if you have any ideas of how the selection process can be made a little easier.

Perhaps just not bother choosing liveries, it doesn't matter THAT much.
