Yeah I'm up for this as long as i can get control of the tv. Are we talking normal time?

This might be hard for Dennis random car and track I don't think he is having much luck with the pad settings.

Any car/track will be hard. I don't think I'll be playing much until there are some patches, until then I might download F1 2017 or perhaps some other game to keep me occupied. The way the game is in right now I can barely beat the AI on 30%. It's just not fun to play for me at this moment.

So don't count on me for the foreseeable future for any races. I'll be doing other things

I'm still testing out the FFB on my PS4. It actually seems to work on slower/non-open wheelers but I've only tried a few. The Indycar and Formula C and 100% unplayable.

The Honda 2&4 works though. Its very hard to drive - like the Caterham in PC1 but more twitchy/unstable. Nothing like the improve tyre model claims handling on the limit will be. I'll try a GT3 car later.

So if you need numbers send me an invite. I probably won't be a threat which will be no bad thing for the others!

Okay, even though my wheel does not work I am willing to try the controller!  Dennis, if you are around and have a chance, can you send me your controller settings so that I do not start from scratch!  I won’t be a threat obviously.

what settings are you using i found something that feels close to how i had it in Pc1.

Can i suggest we have damage and penalty's off. For some reason my visual damage did not get repaired between qualifying and a race session over the weekend. So i started the race with my bonnet all bent up covering half my window screen. I also used return to pit yesterday in qualifying and i got a speeding in the pit lane penalty that disqualified me from qualifying. lol so much for ive not had that many problems.

What wheel have you got Skan ?

So far I've only tried the Indy car and that was useless must be bugged and I believe FC is the same.

Try a GT3 car it's not to bad with those.

The general suggestion is to try the Honda 2&4. It was said to me for wheel and ffb setup purposes. It's a tricky but fun car to drive.

Ant high powered cars seem to be fucked. Tried a 488 GT3 at Monza and it was feelless. It was an online race of course and it was mayhem. So I don't think I was the only one struggling.

Can't really help you with settings for pCars2. The setup from the first game doesn't translate into the second. The base setup of the controller feels better than the base setup in part 1, but I've tried all kinds of tips and for some cars it feels like it should, but then the next car I have to change the settings because it is way off and just can't get it right. Something you'd normally do through the setup of your car, it seems like SMS has forgotten it's still a game and people don't want to have to setup the controller for each car individually, setups that you can't save. They can't expect me to have an excel file with a hundred setups for different cars and tracks, right?
There are some youtube videos on controller setups, but they haven't been really helpful for me.

I have never got proficient using the the controller but I am trying.  I changed my settings to something similar posted in the PCars Forum and it felt much better at first, then I started to push the car and the back end would come around as soon as I went faster than the previous lap even though I was trying to improve as slowly as I could.  I have a hunch it is a combination of car set up and the controller not being as linear.  Many people are complaining about the controller being too sensitive.   I started to analyze the steering through the controller and it appears as you steer further, there is a point where the transition or sensitivity rises rapidly.  It is this rapid change going back to straight combined with deceleration that makes the back end spin.  I notice that setting the steering to react faster (I forget what is called) alleviates the tendency to spin but it makes it jittery on the straight.    Now, after reading this, please just tell me I need to have more of a steady thumb and get on get it!  That, I am full of it!

The big issue with the steering to react faster will also result into really bad tire wear and without assists I personally find the cars better controllable with the slower steering, but it depends on the car-track combo. In PC1 I just couldn't drive on some tracks due to the nature of the controller, I couldn't reach full lock fast enough (something you can often force with a wheel, with your thumbstick you can just press it to the right/left and hope it reaches the amount of lock you're looking for in time), so a track like Monaco becomes impossible to be fast because for some corners I had to almost stop on track to get the car to steer in.
With PC2 I have tried different things the first days, but practical identical cars would react completely different to steering input and not the logical difference you can adjust with a good setup, but more like the difference between a car and a motorcycle... I believe if you put enough time into 1 track and 1 car you can get it to work, but getting a new game, you want to explore the different tracks and cars it has to offer and not be lost with your controls, because you just don't know if it's the controllers fault or the car setup and before you figured it out (if at all) you're busy for hours, just getting the steering input right, you wouldn't want to have to setup your wheel from scratch for every race either, right?

I have tried several controller settings found in the PCars Forum and I finally found one by chance on you tube that seems to work much better than before, either that or I am just getting better; you may consider me a virtual controller newby so pretend I am like when you first started racing with the controller.  The only thing I am doing lately is concentrating with the controller damper setting. So far, I have played only with the Formula X, Road America and no assists in the controller but I am finally able to keep the car on the road and learned a thing or two about tweaking the new style set up with more choices.   Today, for the first time I entered a GT3 lobby and was surprised how easy it was for me to get a handle of compared to the Formula X; it felt more arcady even for me a controller newby.  I am way too far to be competitive in public lobbies as I was with my wheel.   With all this said and done, I am not having fun and miss my wheel.  I might just end up buying another wheel after all unless somehow the devs work their magic and make the T100 compatible.  Compatible is the right word as I learned, instead of “supported”. the T100 is compatible only because the same procedure is used in several games where you need to use a combination of controller and wheel to make it work in the game.  I have contacted SMS privately and had been replied to with the information that odds are great no work will be done with the T100.

Adjusting the diff settings and rear tyre pressures helps but I still spin through 360 degrees at least once every 2 laps. I'm so far from competitive. If anyone is racing tonight I might join in but I have to sa this is more chore than game right now. Hopefully the next patch will address this grip issue. Even in 4WD I can spin using brakes with ABS on. It's almost undrivable for me.

I am starting to enjoy the game and i have all the assist off. Although i am only using GT3's, Group A and alike. I have also started my career in the Jr.Ginetta and find these very fun to drive to. I have changed my ffb settings so many times that i think i am just going to stick with what i have now. As it feels like a good balance in the cars i have mentioned above. I will forward them over again skan i have changed them since the last time.

^ can you get a feel for the front wheel tyre slip?

I'm now running 90,80,90,15. The rear at least on a Touring Car is fed back well, but the fronts are dead. Absolute zero feedback.

Matt - Did you try my settings?

Skan what wheel do you have ? I can get you some settings to try.

My first Impressions of this was like you guys bacicly the FFB was rubbish I was really disappointed. Nothing like PC1 the stock settings are much like AC. Not so much feel for the car.

However I now look at it like this. Forget what pc1 was like it's a new game the cars handle different the game is different.

Treat it as something new don't try and recreate PC1 learn the game as a brand new. You don't get the same feeling but you get used to it.

I can't remember what your settings were to try.

I've tried many different concoctions but I still can't get any feel for the front tyres. Currently I think I'm running something like 90, 80, 90, 15. I even tried a FWD touring car but still nothing. It's simply blank. I have to run ABS atm because the only way I know the fronts are locking under braking is because the car doesn't stop or goes straight on. The tyre screeching helps but by then it's too late and you can't tell when to reapply (I have an old karting habit to automatically cadence brake. Stabbing away works ok in a kart if you screw up).

35

20

It's not great but. Try it in a Gt3 or 90's Gt1 some of the other cars it doesn't feel as good

So here's a thing.
I just read a post about cars spinning too easily on the PC2 forum. The solution is to delete your profile and start the game again without altering any controller settings at all. I just tried it and did my fastest time around RA in FX. Cold tyres too.

The FFB is too heavy but suddenly the cars are drivable!

Dam, I just spent about an hour tinkering with the controller settings and I did not reset my profile. Skan, you are referring to the profile for the console, correct?  I did not see anything within the game to delete.   Now, concerning coming to grips of the controller,  I threw away the settings for steering sensitivity and dampening.  My car was too twitchy that I kept trying to reduce sensitivity and increase dampening and it was getting worse and worse.  So on a hunch after a moment of enlightening , I decided to set steering sensitivity and dampening to 50 which is supposed to make it a linear signal.  My thought was, what if I am overshooting my thumb because of how dampened and delayed the lever was applying the steering ending up inducing oscillation.  And sure enough, after a few laps to become acclimatized, I began to drive more precisely and improve my lap times further.    The brain was controlling now how much sensitive and dampened the thumb needed it be, if that makes any sense.   Go ahead, tell me what the hell are you smoking?    I will try deleting the profile next time I am online.   By the way, I am waiting on a response from Thrustmaster in regards to my t100.  I read something in their website in the regards to the t500, which is similar in function to the t100, and it states that it is up to the game developer to make a PS3 wheel compatible with a PS4 game application as it was done with the T500.  So my thought went what if this also applies to the T100, after all, they made it compatible with PCars in PS4 so they should be able to do it again.   PCars Moderators keep telling people that it is “Sony’s fault” the t100 is not compatible.  I just do not want to sell my wheel and then find in a Month or two suddenly it works.  I want to be able to make my case.

I know it's frustrating when they say it's Sony's fault. The T100 still works on PS4 but not for PC2. Why would they not permit it's use for a single title?

Yes it's the profile under the system settings. You WILL lose all your setups, settings, laptimes and career progress. I tried it yesterday and only the FC had issues. I will try some settings today to see if I can work out which settings cause problems.

At this point we are getting a feel of different cars so we can arrive to some decision of what we should drive in the next season whenever it happens.  So far we have tested some promising cars like the Fx and the Lotus Turbo.  I have done runs with the Lotus 78 which I like for its simplicity and yet raw handling, also nice engine sound.  Yesterday I did some practice with the Alpine A442B though it is not a true open cockpit I decided to try it for the hell of it and because I like its looks.  Today, I will probably try something else.   You fellows are welcome to recommend a car and track for Wednesday and Thursday.   So let's hear what you want to do.
Title: Re: PC2 - Race this week 28th Sept

Something more simple makes sense to me - mainly because the lower end cars work better and would promote closer racing.

My max level for consistent playability only stretches to some, but not all, of the GT3 cars.

OTOH GT Sport works a perfect treat for what it intended and it doesn't seem to matter what cars you pick, you have a nose-to-tail race with everyone. :)

Well i tried the 98T when i first had the game and could not do an outlap! I am hoping this was a ffb issues or a setup bug as I used to love the 98T on p cars 1. But i have not tried again since and I've mainly stuck with the low end gt cars and I'm having a blast. Had some more good races with Legacy again last night in random lobby's in the GT3's and GT1's. Was taken back by the F50! that was a nice car to drive. I also love the caterham SP/300R you can just push it so much compared to some cars on the game. Another car i liked was the bmw 2002 i mistakenly entered a race at spa classic in the rain. Was a fun combo tbf although the track was very long and straight lol. I wont make any Wednesdays races for a while but might get in on some of the Thursday races.

EDIT: Also how are you getting on with the pad? Are you not tempted to get a new wheel yet? I have been looking at the Fanatec's mainly for the pedal set tbf  but trying to justify £600 on a toy is hard lol.

I am waiting for at least two more weeks to see if I get favorable news for cronusmax in regards to their drivehub device.   I can not really say much but they are working behind the scenes for possible T100 compatibility.  And yes, the controller is a pain and I am getting better with it but not enough for a decent pace yet.  Perhaps, I can get a tutorial from our drift king Dennis.       The way he drives the cars are very reminiscent of how Alonso drove the Renault; I remember how David Hobbs would make comments in reference of the way Alonso would just crank the wheel with the supposedly tricky tires of those years where they did not like abuse. :sign0098:

.  We can try the LMPS for sure even though I never had much success with them; it must be a set up issue.  Yesterday, I had so much fun racing the RXC Turbo at Silverstone. Even though I have a controller, I was able to appreciate how you are able to drift and have a controlled acceleration oversteer.  I can only imagine it would be a dream to race with a wheel.  I must confess I drove the controller yesterday for the first time with manual transmission; I forced myself to learn it but still have a long way to be as smooth with a wheel.

Indeed my first real go in the single seaters. FC was a bit pants tbh but the FR would be fun.

Also for that last race it seems some of you were confused.

When you go to the 2 min ready up screen you have to load a set up or you will get given default. If you forget and press ready by mistake and hit options. That will cancel the ready and give to chance to load up.

Thanks! Good to know.
